Kanye West at the Cannes Film Festival

Location: Cannes Film Festival
Shirt: Thom Browne custom shirt
Jeans: Distressed Saint Laurent
Shoes: Bottega Veneta Chelsea Boots

Kanye Outfit Rating... 9/10

...
Taken from an interview during the Cannes Film Festival, West shows us how to pull off the smart casual to a tee. As Kanye stumbled through the French interview, detailing his new surround film project which he had shown off during the event, my eyes as always were drawn to his outfit. The stone wash jeans, and white shirt provided a light, clean and overall pleasing smart aesthetic complimented perfectly with the grey Bottega Venetia's on his feet. All the while, ripped and stacked jeans alongside his rolled up sleeves reminds us it is not a suit and tie affair. I also love that you can replicate this look and style for a relatively low price - Kanye may use the best material products with the best tailored fit - but you can probably get an outfit in this style for under $150!

Thom Browne custom shirt - $350

Kanye has altered this shirt pretty extensively: first of all this was once a long sleeve shirt (obviously he has cut the sleeves off), and once had an ordinary collar. The collar is too high and stiff to be a granddad collar, especially in the style of Thom Browne. It appears, Mr West has cut the collar and distressed the top, to leave an almost frayed look.

Saint Laurent Distressed Jeans - $490

Stack city bitch, stack stack city bitch (I don't apologise for my bad jokes). That signature 15.5 cm leg opening at the bottom, sits perfectly on top of the Bottega Venetia chelsea boots, and stacks brilliantly. The distressing is most likely Kanye's doing; although Saint Laurent do produce their own distressed denim, this is not one of them.

Bottega Venetia Chelsea Boots - $770

I made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can. Jay may have propelled that NY cap into stardom as the world's most sold new era cap (617,000 for all you stats freaks, and yes I spend way too much time on the internet). But, little brother Ye is responsible for the chelsea boots ride to the top as a mainstream footwear piece. Just about anyone and everyone who considers themselves 'fashionable' has a pair. The best thing about the chelsea boot is the versatility; this is for sure a piece you could rotate   I believe these are sold out, and although retailing at $770, to find them in new condition you are likely to have to part with around $1,000 from a seller.
